Here a journalistic text that haven't a minimum attention by newspaper who pretend to practice a militant information: L'Unità, Manifesto Left, Liberazione (at least Liberazione has answered me). Basically it was just for spending some words in local pages. C'est tout. But obviously they don't like investigate with humble curiosity events under a certain amount, without red charpet or big names. And objecting that in my position of juror i couldn't write anything about it, is an inconsistent excuse in front of this little Festival, without funding, and with a familiary's conduction i would say tenderly. And so they continue to rule the power's tail with the mask of opposition.
Go on.
“Today film festival is like dentist's conventions. Speech, cocktails, dinners, banquets, the mayor, the mayor's wife... It's so folkloristic that became depressing”. (J.L. Godard, Lire, n .255, maggio 1997).
A rip from a new humanity, is open near S. Paolo fuori le mura (S. Paolo outside the walls). Set between anonymous buildings aged '70, "La città dell'utopia" (The Utopia's City) (www.lacittadellutopia.it), a social and cultual workshop for a model of sustainable developpement, who is in a rural house aged '700, called Garibaldi's House, (a legend tells that Garibaldi slept for a while. True or false this allowed the house to survival, otherwise destinated to be demolished), has offer the hospitality from 2nd to 5th of July the Third Ediction of Festival del Cinema Libero (Free Film Festival), a positive anomaly of this country, wanted, building and organized by Kadour Naimi, algerian actor and director that also manage a film school, the Maldoror, in Rome where he lived from 20 years.
This is the matter: i make a movie, fiction or documentary, that doesn't enter in the so-called ufficial circuit. The F.C.L. (Festival Cinema Libero = Free Film Festival) chooses my product because it satisfy ethic and aestethic criterias, who are the fondamental criterias of the Festival, uniques to be binding for an economically and ideologically free cinema, and the Festival proposes my product to some people, including jury, that view my work and express an opinion.
Is this the Festival for who can't reach the limelight of branded heaven (excluding and rebuking because they are slaves by other selection's criterias)? Absolutely not! Here the civil society organizes itself, they are not a problem of the marginalized people from media system!
The Kadour Naimi's intent and bet is to stop the vicious circle that wants the artistic and cultural's circulation of cultural products in A series, B series and Z series, and to replace this kind of situation in a virtuous circle, as they say today, referring to the revitalization made by the civil society aware to promote initiatives organised from below. Then to give more concreteness to ideas and to the sense of doing.
Have the same artistic dignity the products who come in this Festival with those submitted, rewarded, proclaimed in places chaired by the power? Yes, even more, they're special because they don't “boast” productive dictated that subject. In short: absence of prostitution and maximum freedom of expression.
It's possible to see sensitive love's stories, given with sincere and courageous expressive effort (Carlos y Anna, by Fabrizio Nigro, La paura più grande by Emanuele Michetti); stories that tell the urgent need to change the world (Save the world by English David Casals-Roma. The director wasn't present during the projection because he hadn't money to came in Rome); and precious reconnaissance on issues not faced by producers, writers and directors affirmed. (...)
And yet original stories of loneliness lived in the narrow and inconcludent condition of a diet (La giornata di Eva by Clara Salgado) or stories about a shared musical passion that permit the rebirt of broken lives (awardest documentary Randagi by Luciano Sartirana, history about the Bar Boon Band lived in Milano, where a few of homeless organized theirselves in a music band for rebuilding a new life).
Many others, they are twenty more or less the works presented at the Festival (see website www.festivalcinemalibero.com) in which there is the beautiful documentary about “People's Home”, a piece of our country's history, told with meticulous reconstruction and alive and exciting language for the present of register documentary and theatrical language, that give breath to the narrative urgency (Piccolo cane nero by Danilo Caracciolo and Roberto Montanari).
And then the precious Aviano Italia, by Daniele Bonazza, produced from below, excellent reportage about the status of nuclear weapons in Italy and specifying in particular the real situation of Aviano. The inserts taken by american propaganda, which has hammered U.S. citizens from years 40th to 80th with the absurd “duck and cover” to be charged in case of atomic attack from other countries, gives more substance to the images about military's citadel in the Friuli's area, in which they are kept (?) 50 atomic bombs (see site www.dwcvideo.it).
It could say about this Festival that is one of the many festival born, like others. But not! Here is the Free Film Festival's miracle: it is not the final point of a way that aims to distribution of its work without any further reflection that obtaining receipts and visibility at all costs, or consume and store experience. But as the artistic director Kadour Naimi says with deep conviction this is the started point because it has as primary objective to create a network between all partecipants, both the directors of the films and jury's members, and public, in order to support each other, think about collaborations, project together other works, grow socially, humanly, professionally on a ground that, given the cultural and social devastation of this country, accomplices the "cavalierati" who have the ambition to alternate in the power for deciding unilaterally and therefore wicked our destinies, gets the impression that can become fertile after a correct ploughing. The monoculture of the powerful on the screens have given barren fields giving less and less fruit. Biodiversity, multiculturalism, inclusion and solidarity are essential for the existence in the lives of people who go against the invasion of body snatchers. Who objects: but where is the cinema? I answer that is inevitable that you put anything into focus when you want to talk about cinema and then what the utility of the cinema if not to rebuilt society?
The Betulla onlus association, that deals free with care incurable sick returned to home, was a partner in the Festival and with all the Kadour Naimi's valuable volunteer staff and volunteers of the International Civil Service, a group of young foreigners from various countries, has permit a successl emotionally uplifting.

Down the hat for this wonderful festival. An emotion even greater than the premium received was the energy that I breathed. Thank you.
